Hi Lee,
The company has 111 complaints filed with the BBB in Boston and 70 of those were closed in the last year. You can access their report here: http://www.bbb.org/boston/business-reviews/mortgage-brokers/neighborhood-assistance-corporation-of-america-in-jamaica-plain-ma-53646/
If you haven't engaged in an actual business transaction and cannot get a hold of them already, I would suggest going elsewhere.
Have you tried calling a HUD-approved nonprofit housing counselor? You can speak with a certified counselor by calling 888-995-4673. They can evaluate your housing options, open lines of communication with mortgage lenders, negotiate a loan modification, and help you with household budgeting, all at no cost.
The California Attorney General's press release on "forensic loan audits" is posted here on TrustLink under "New Scams".

Please contact your mortgage company directly and try to work with them. You will get much better results. And it will not cost you anything. California is full of modification company's that are scams. Be careful...
