Terrible Service

I received a letter in the mail from All State Law Group and contacted them to work on a loan modification in April, 2011. I went through the application process, paid them $3500 and was told I qualified. Prior to that, I had approached Bank of America twice about modifying my interest-only mortgage and they wouldn't even consider it. It is now January 2012, and I have received absolutely no satisfaction and no resolve in my attempt to get a modification. When I call them, I never talk to the same person and was told recently my case is "under review". I have no idea what that really means. I am an educated, responsible consumer and feel I have been duped. I was advised by All State to get behind in my mortgage payments by at least 2 months to demonstrate a need for a modification, followed their advice, and now my credit is damaged. My mortgage was subsequently sold to Green Tree, a debt collector.I am convinced this is a scam, regardless of what they say, and would appreciate any advice about how to get my money back and to go public with the truth that this is a terrible law practice to do business with.
