Update, 1/14/13: Just got second extension on escrow that was supposed to close on Dec. 24. Bank will charge me interest lock if deal not completed this week. This place now has more than $16,000 of my money in escrow and nothing is happening. Escrow officer Stephanie Enos will not return emails from me or my bank. Owner Tezra Rogers's email fires back an automated response offering excuses.
What I have learned:
- Complaints to the state Department of Corporations DO get through to the company. Tezra will call you, listen to you plead for her company to do the job it is supposed to do, and then - nothing happens. You are ignored as before. But it is still a good idea to file the complaints. The more complaints, the more pressure there is on regulators to do something. Complaint form available at http://www.corp.ca.gov/F… . Fill it out and email it to the webmaster and ask him/her to forward it to Complaint department.
- HUD's asset manager, BLB Resources, which is supposed to oversee Cimarron, is equally useless. Multiple emails to Closing Manager Cindy Cano asking for an explanation as to why I am being forced to use Cimarron have been ignored. You can email ccano@blbresources.com or file a complaint directly with HUD at answers@hud.gov .
- Los Angeles Times reported E. Scott Reckard is aware of this situation, and has been directed to read these complaints. If he contacts anyone, please tell him your story. The more the word gets out, the more regulators will feel pressure to do something about this travesty of a company. You also can contact Scott at Scott.Reckard@latimes.com
As for anyone else, never, ever use this company. Its license should be revoked and its officers jailed, as far as I am concerned.
Update, 12/27/12: Escrow has expired. No return phone call. No return emails. Talked to HUD asset manager, and even she cannot get Cimarron or escrow officer Tezra Rogers to contact my lender and complete the process. I have zero confidence that this company can complete my escrow. I think this company is criminally incompetent at best and very possibly engaged in fraudulent behavior, and I will be filing complaints with the state Department of Corporations and contacting the District Attorney's office.
