Prospective Students Beware!!
I enrolled in the Medical Assisting Program at Newbridge College, Santa Ana in March 2007. I, along with my classmates was told that the school had 95% placement after graduation.
In retrospect, I know I shouldn't have fallen for such a scam. In my defense, I had been a stay-at-home mom for 15 yrs. I honestly didn't know.
The school itself was, for me, not that bad. I worked very hard, made a 4.0 GPA. I even went on and attained my certification. I was very proud of myself!
And then...
Since Graduation, I have been looking for a job! Every place I apply for wants at least one years experience!
These schools like NEWBRIDGE are VERY AWARE that their graduates are not going to be able to get jobs. They stress how we should take any opportunity we might be offered off extern. Unfortunately, the extern sites they place their students in aren't hiring!
Why aren't they hiring? Why should they when they get free labor from the steady stream of extern students supplied by these HORRIBLE schools?
These schools claim to offer job placement assisatance.
No Way! All I've gotten from their placement offfice is an occasional e-mail of jobs that aren't even for Medical Assistant (Unit Secretary, Clerical)
These same jobs are sent to EVERY out of work MA that their school has produced! With the schools HUNDREDS of out-of-work MA's applying what are your chances?
Now, my student loans are coming up due in August. I have to pay those, even though I don't have a job! I'm no better off than I was last year. Actually, worse off, because I'm also 8,000 in debt!
I hope this helps someone else not make a REALLY bad mistake!
FYI..I've heard the same stories from ALL of the programs offered there. So, be careful
